I Just Ran 10 Miles. Missing Something.

I just ran 10 miles. But, I didn’t get the dopamine I wanted.

Today was my last day of exams. So, I wanted to get some fresh air. Decided to go on a run.

Thought it would be 5-6 miles. But, my 3:30 and 4:30 chats got dropped. So I kept running.

The run was great.

Lots of sun. Birds chirping. Flies flying. Grads graduating.

But, at the end of the run. I was disappointed.

I didn’t get what I wanted.

What I wanted to hear is–

“Hey, this is trainer Mike.”

“Great job on your run.”

“Man, you really poured your heart and soul, keep at it!”

But, instead–

“Workout ended.”

“Time…”

“Pace…”

The takeaway? It’s the small things that matter.

A simple AI robot speaking through the Nike Run Club app gets me excited.

It gives me the dopamine rush I crave.

Such a simple remark can go a long way.

As far as to keep a customer coming back.

But, maybe the sporadic nature of the positive remarks are the reason that I am more excited to hear them.
