The Endless Pursuit

We are all searching for something. And, we know it’s not there.

We convince ourselves that we must look a little longer.

But, we know that time is limited.

We convince ourselves that we must dig a little deeper.

But, we know that there is only so much we need to know.

Most of the answers we need, we already know.

How do I stay in shape? Go to the gym 4 days a week. Push. Pull. Legs. Cardio.
How do I get that job? Learn the technicals. Network. Build relevant experience.
How do I grow my reach? Write more. Write better.
How do I get better at speaking? Record and share 100 videos.
Etc.

The initial answers we need are often the most obvious.

It’s the simple advice – the boring stuff.

It’s only when we get started and do it for long enough that we need deeper answers.

Answers that are worth chasing.

At this stage, it might be justified to spend $500/hr with a business coach. Because that 1 piece of advice that is relevant to what we are doing can increase sales 2, 3, 4 fold.

But, at the start. The advice we need is already with us.

It’s just getting started doing the one thing.

The one thing being the work itself.

I find myself going on an endless journey of information. Almost as to not do the thing that I know matters.

Why? Because the one thing is hard.

What’s the solution? It’s just like highlighting while reading versus summarizing the reading. Focus on doing the simple things that feel difficult.
